Lithuanians in Ireland celebrated King Mindaugas' coronation day

To celebrate King Mindaugas' coronation day on 6 July at the same time - 9 PM Lithuanian Time - thousands of Lithuanians in Lithuania and around the world traditionally gather to sing the Lithuanian national anthem.

Lithuanian communities, families and comrades living in Ireland together with Lithuanians around the world sang the national anthem for the 10th time. The celebration of this historically important date was commemorated in various Ireland’s cities and towns included Ballinrobe, Dundalk, Galway, Laois, Monaghan, Mullingar, Waterford and Dublin.

The tradition to sing the National Anthem at the same day all over the world has started in 2009, when Lithuania was marking the 1000-year anniversary of the first recorded mention of Lithuania in the Annals of Quedlinburg.
