Lithuanian artist’s sculptures decorated a new playground in Dublin‘s Merrion Square Park

A recently opened children’s playground in the center of Dublin is decorated with wooden sculptures by Lithuanian artist Šarūnas Gimbutis. The sculptures are based on famous Irish writer and poet Oscar Wilde’s fairytale “The Selfish Giant“.
The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ireland at the opening ceremony was presented by Deputy Head of Mission Audronė Markevičienė. The opening ceremony of the playground included remarks by Dublin City Councillor Kate O'Connell and other officials; the event was also attended by other Dublin City Council members and many guests from Irish and Lithuanian community.
