Lithuania positioned as Amber Country
The exhibition „Amber Differently“, which presented unique amber cosmetics, as well as amber culinary delights and jewelry, also linen production and degustation of Lithuanian national cuisine took place during the presentation of Lithuanian tourism possibilities in Dublin on the 3rd of June. This event was organized by Lithuanian State Tourism Department in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland.
Lithuania was introduced as a destination, which was awarded with the third place among ten most recommended places to visit in 2015 by the Lonely Planet, the world's most popular travel guide. Probably this fact has attracted many Irish travel journalists and writers to take part in the event, including journalists from popular Irish daily ‘Sunday Independent’ and travel editors of ‘Sunday World’, „Irish Travel Trade News“.
Lithuanian tourism business suppliers including representatives of 5 stars hotels ‘Ramada Hotel & Suites’ and ‘Vilnius Grand Resort’ emphasized various possibilities for the weekend city breaks and provided useful information about access options, touring routes and what to see and do.
The tourism business mission is part of the project ‘Improvement of the Image of Lithuania and Increasing Awareness in Foreign Markets’.
During the first quarter of 2015 Irish visitors’ numbers to Lithuania increased by 14.2%, while last year 4,100 Irish tourists spent 8,800 nights in the country.
