Coat of Arms of King Brian Boru will mark Lithuanian and Irish friendship
Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland proudly took part in organizing of the ceremony on the 11th of December, 2014 of presenting the Coat of Arms of O’Brien Family, descendants of King Brian Boru, by The Lithuanians’ International Heraldry Foundation (LIHF) to the Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke.
The Coat of Arms, the work of art of Lithuanian sculptor Darius Miliauskas, was handed over to the Lord Mayor in commemoration of Millenium of the Clontarf Battle, one of the most notable events in the history of Ireland.
Sculptor Darius Miliauskas, a member and co-founder of the LIHF, has lived in Ireland for over 10 years. Miliauskas has worked on a number of restoration projects of Irish architectural heritage and is probably the only Lithuanian accredited as a Celtic cross craftsman.
King Brian Boru reminds Lithuanian people of Lithuanian only King Mindaugas, who in the same way like Brian Boru fought many battles and succeeded in uniting Lithuania as a country.
The Coat of Arms was presented in a name of all Lithuanians living in Ireland as a symbol of friendship and a thank you to the Irish people.
