Lithuania regrets Russia's decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies in December this year, calls on the country to reconsider this action and to return to the full compliance with the Treaty.
The Treaty on Open Skies is an important element of the conventional arms control and confidence-building framework in Europe. Lithuania is gravely concerned that this framework is in deep crisis because of continuous aggressive actions by Russia, violations or selective implementation of its international obligations and commitments.
Lithuania reiterates its full support to the conventional arms control architecture in Europe, which enhances transparency and predictability, as well as contributes to consolidating peace and security in our continent.
