Repatriation certificate

Repatriation certificate is a travel document that can be issued to a person, who is temporary in a foreign country and does not have a suitable travel document.

Repatriation certificate issued by the diplomatic institutions of the Republic of Lithuania can only be used to return to the Republic of Lithuania. This document is not valid to continue the journey or to travel to foreign countries.

Who is eligible for Repatriation Certificate?

  • Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, who lost their passport or identity card, while being in a foreign country. Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, whose travel document have passed the expiry date or have no current or suitable travel document.
  • Person without citizenship in a possession of a residence permit of the Republic of Lithuania who lost his / her passport or identity card, while being in a foreign country.
  • Foreign born children of a citizen (or citizens) of the Republic of Lithuania, who are not in a possession of Lithuanian passport or identity card or have no current or suitable travel document.

Where to apply for Repatriation certificate?

Repatriation certificate to return to Lithuania is issued by the diplomatic institutions of the Republic of Lithuania.

How to apply for repatriation certificate?

Documents for Repatriation certificate should be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland not earlier than 3 months before the trip to Lithuania.

Documents for Repatriation certificate could be submitted personally at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland during consular reception hours (any working day between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM), by fax +353 1 283 9354 or by e-mail: [email protected].

Issuance and validity of Repatriation certificate

Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland issues Repatriation certificate in 3 working days after receiving all necessary documents (application form and etc.).

Validity of Repatriation certificate is based on the date of the return to Lithuania; however, it cannot exceed 15 days.

Repatriation certificate must be collected personally at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania during consular reception hours (any working day between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM). Repatriation certificate issued to minors must be collected by one of the parents.

Consular fee for Repatriation certificate – 5 EUR (paid in cash only at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland).
