EU Member States’ Ambassadors to Ireland promote this year’s EU
The Ambassadors of EU countries to Ireland gathered at Europe House on Mount Street Lower for a photocall to encourage all EU citizens in Ireland to exercise their right to Vote on May 24.
Well over 250,000 citizens across the EU have signed up to the This Time I’m Voting campaign, which also has hundreds of volunteers campaigning energetically to encourage their friends, family and colleagues to go to the polls.
James Temple-Smithson, Head of the European Parliament’s Liaison Office in Dublin, said “All EU citizens who live in Ireland can vote in the European elections - either by registering to vote here or, in most cases, voting in their home country. The rules do vary a bit between EU Member States and anyone who is not sure of the procedure can visit www.thistimeimvoting.eu and be signposted to the right information about their own situation.
“The European Parliament works hard to make sure people are aware of their rights as European citizens, including the right to vote. This strong commitment by the Ambassadors today underlines the importance of the European elections.”
