The biggest event in the field of life sciences in the Baltic States and throughout Eastern and Central Europe „Life Sciences Baltics 2018 “ was held in the capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius, on September 26-27. Over 1500 delegates from Japan, Israel, United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and other leading countries in the field of life sciences participated in the event. The delegation from the Emerald Isle was led by Professor Mark Fergusson, Director General of „Science Foundation Ireland“ and Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government of Ireland. Professor kindly agreed to answer questions of the newspaper „Lietuvis” (“The Lithuanian”).
Thursday the 25th October saw representatives of the Irish travel trade and media gather at the Lithuanian Embassy in Dublin to discuss potential tourism opportunities in Lithuania. The familiarisation seminar, held by the Lithuanian Embassy and the Lithuanian Professionals Network Ireland, a local diaspora professionals’ club, introduced the destination’s potential in attracting travellers from Ireland and highlighted specialised tourism products tailored to the Irish travel market.
Irish President Michael D. Higgins who is on an official visit to Lithuania, marked the beginning of a new significant cooperation with Kaunas City and Lithuania. During the solemn reception at the Kaunas City Hall, three agreements were signed in the field of science and education.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lithuania and Ireland, cooperation within the European Union and security issues. Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ireland participated in Ireland's largest tourism exhibition, the Holiday World Show Dublin 2018, at the RDS Simmonscourt Dublin. The event, which took place on 26 – 28 of January, is the largest of its kind in the tourism sector and this year attracted more than 40 000 visitors.
