Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Linas Linkevičius, visited the Luhansk Oblast in Ukraine on 22 and 23 June where he had meetings with the Head of the Oblast State Administration (regional military and civil administration), Yurii Harbuz, with a business community, Ukrainian military and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that provide support to war-affected people.

On 12 June at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Lithuanian representative, Professor Jonas Ruškus was re-elected to serve a second term on the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Having won the second largest number of electoral votes, Lithuania's candidate was elected in the first round.

On 5 June, Professor Dainius Pūras, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health was elected as Chairperson of the Coordination Committee of Special Procedures of the United Nations Human Rights Council. He will coordinate the work of about 80 independent UN experts, who implement the organization's mandates in the field of human rights.

On 30 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended the OECD's annual Ministerial Council meeting in Paris. In the meeting, the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė and the OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurria signed the OECD Accession Agreement with Lithuania. The President of France Emmanuel Macron congratulated Lithuania after the signing of the Accession Agreement for the country to join the OECD.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius, paid a visit to Stockholm on the invitation of Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallström, on 26 May where he took part in the Baltic Day, a cultural event organised by the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian communities in Sweden, to mark the centenary of their states’ independence.

During the visit to New York on 17-18 May 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the United Nations Rosemary A. Di Carlo and the Head of UN Peacekeeping Jean-Pierre Lacroix. In the meetings, The Foreign Minister presented Lithuania's priorities at the United Nations and discussed the country‘s further engagement in UN peacekeeping missions.

On 14 May, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Albinas Zananavičius participated in the EU General Affairs Council in Brussels, which discussed the Commission‘s proposals for the multiannual financial framework (MFF) post 2020, and ministers had a round of discussions. On 2 May, the Commission proposed a long-term budget of €1,135 billion in commitments over the period from 2021 to 2027. The modern EU budget is 3% higher than the current MFF. The Commission ambitiously aims to have an agreement before the European Parliament elections in May 2019.

On 3 May, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) invited Lithuania to accede to the OECD Convention and to become its 36th member country. Thus, Lithuania has gained significant international recognition as a developed and advanced economy.
